Project Orange - Z26 SS

Restore, and drop in built motor.
Below is a list of things I need to get and fix on the car before
I will drop in the new motor. I've listed some of the things near the end that I
will do when I swap the motor too though.
Missing or Damaged Parts to Replace:

Shifter assembly and Cables
-
Washer fluid tank, pump and lines.

Vacuum Tank and lines
-
Horns
- Hood latch screw
- Passenger side bulk head gasket and screw
- Engine mount bracket that goes to alternator and bolts
- Motor mount nuts (non rusted)
- Front AirBag sensor and pigtail
- Rubber pads in fenders that protect door from opening too far event
- Rubber bump stops for gas cap door
- Rubber bump stop for top of doors
- Door metal handle trim (bent and missing nuts, bad paint)
- Trim behind door handles (cut for upper latch, and paint)
- Upper catch on body, and upper latch on door
- Passenger side door window outer trim (scuffed and bent), Drivers side
(missing screws)
- Passenger side endlink
- Radio/HVAC bezel and vents
- Hose clamps OEM style
- Rear seat belt bolts, and seat bolts, front seat bolt track stops
- One hood bump stop

Drivers side 87-91 subframe (for extra torque strut)
Things to Fix & Complete:
- Reverse light switch (need connector)
- VSS reluctor wheel inside transmission (no speedometer) (may have to do at
time of motor swap and split the case)
- Wire in clutch switch
- Clean up wires to shifter
- Wire in trunk release
- Fix radio wires and speakers, possibly change HU
- Screw down rear speakers
- Seal holes in trunk
- Route/bend fuel & brake lines to clear trans mount and put back up
near body
- Snap in hood release cable in firewall
- Seal hole in firewall for power wire/install grommet
- Route engine wires better and secure them & clutch line
- 3rd Brake light - Verify/test
- Fix dome light (maybe just a bulb)
- Tighten door seat belt bolts
- Weld threaded bolt to new shifter shaft for knob
- Weld upper engine mount back 1" or get different T bone
- Run vacuum line and install Vacuum Gauge
- Install solid grill bottom clips and screws
- Install 87-91 subframe & trans torque strut (got the dogbone
already)
- Remove loose paint and rust from under car, front to back. Convert, and
apply Rust-Bullet
- De-rust and paint rear trailing arms, struts, shocks, sway bar, subframes,
control arms - black.
- Remove trunk switch (anti-theft?)
- Pull carpet and check over wiring and look for rust
- Attempt to polish out scratches on rear deck lid.
- Hand wash, clean interior

- Below will happen once the other stuff above is done and it's time for
the motor swap

- Wire up OBDI adapter harness, mount PCM and start tuning
- Take exhaust off and put on the Aqua car
- Remove engine, check/seal firewall, fix trans VSS reluctor, install
performance clutch
- Install engine, install headers, bolt up stainless exhaust to car.
- Start tuning for new motor
- Get new wheels & tires. 17x8" lightweight with 245mm size tires

Future stuff (low priority for now):
- Repair crack on cowl on hood, re-paint whole hood, cut and buff. $$$$
- Install Prothane # 7-501 poly bushings into trans torque strut

Engine to do List:
- Install Clevite AL-3 SBC cam bearings for durability.
- New spark plugs
- Teflon O-ring & gasket for oil drive shaft
- Install oil filter adapter turn down
- Swap over flywheel
- Swap over fuel rail
- Clean up engine
- Paint UIM like my other cars.
